About
We are She SUPs - a stand-up paddleboarding adventure business and community that aims to empower women (cis, trans) and gender minorities through SUP lessons, half-day tours, community paddles and multi-day SUP trips.
She SUPs is not a SUP school/business in the traditional mass-market sense. We like to think we’ve carved out our own unique corner of the outdoors industry delivering not only day tours and lessons, but overnight trips, expeditions and experiences that are truly soul-warming. We have developed a growing online community which our paddlers describe as ‘feeling like a family’ and we provide online education resources such as our online course to empower women with knowledge and skills to do-it-themselves and spend more time outdoors. We are a ‘profit for good’ business. Giving back and making a positive impact of the world is what drives us. As our community grows, we recognise that we can utilise our collective power for good and we love to work together to support causes that matter to us and our community. We are a highly empathetic and compassionate team who aim to ensure every individual feels supported and empowered through every interaction with us (both on and off the water). We host boutique bucket-list experience SUP trips but will only work with third-party businesses who align with our values and ethos. And we actively facilitate connections between our paddlers to ensure everyone feels welcome and part of our wonderful community.
The She SUPs team is made up of Vikki (our only full-time employee) and 3 casual SUP instructors who run our tours around their 9-5 jobs elsewhere. We are always looking for talented, passionate people to join our small team, so if that’s you - please get in touch!!
Culture & Values
The She SUPs team are:
Highly creative - we are innovators in the industry
FUN - laughter and fun is central to what we do and how we work
Honest and compassionate - we are a team of highly empathetic individuals
Forward thinkers and problem solvers
Passionate - everyone has a fire in their belly to make a positive impact in the world
Adventurous and love the outdoors
Calm & Mature - we support women of all ages with fears and insecurities while on the water and can calmly hold space for them in times of challenge
Forever an optimist - working in a weather dependent industry has its challenges, so optimism is key. We live by the phrase “there’s no such thing as bad weather, only being under prepared!”
Roles Currently Available:
Seasonal SUP Guide based in Sydney
(Saturdays, Dec - May)
She SUPs is seeking a passionate and experienced female SUP Guide (or two) to help run our Half-Day Tours and Confidence Builder sessions in Sydney during the Summer months.
We are ideally seeking a guide who is available EVERY SATURDAY from 5th December to 29th May 2026 (or two guides that can share the role). Locations will vary across Sydney, from Northern Beaches to Sutherland Shire.
Saturday hours are likely to be 7.30am - 12.30pm but are subject to change.
You will be hired as a casual employee with ordinary hours starting at $32 per hour + superannuation (12%) with additional pay for tours that involve more than 1 hour of travel time. For this role we guarantee a minimum of 4 hours work every Saturday regardless of the weather. If a tour is cancelled due to the weather, we may on occasion ask you to switch your day OR we will ask for your assistance with other admin tasks on that Saturday during your 4 hour shift. Additional hours are available for additional tour/trip support if you want them. There are also continuous opportunities in this role for additional bonuses based on performance.
You will be provided a She SUPs uniform of wide-brim hat, rashie, jumper, t-shirt and waterproof waistpack. You will be expected to wear this at every lesson and tour, and always ensure your uniform is clean and tidy to represent the brand well.
Minimum requirements expected from all applicants:
First Aid & CPR
Experience teaching/guiding in any field
Level 1 or 2 SUP Instructor/ Guide qualifications OR Cert II/III in Outdoor Recreation or equivalent. If you don’t currently hold a guiding qualification, check out ASI (HERE) for information on becoming a SUP instructor.
GREEN FLAGS
✅ You are a qualified outdoor guide (can be kayak, abseil, hiking or other) WITH EXPERIENCE in Stand-up paddleboarding. We can train you to become a confident SUP guide/instructor, but an outdoor qualification with experience guiding tours is important to ensure you have foundational skills in group management, time management, weather and healthy and safety in the outdoor sector.
✅ You’re available every Saturday between 5th December to 29th May 2026 (we can always swap you to another day on the odd occasion if there’s one or two that don’t work, or if we find two guides to share this role).
✅ You love to read weather forecasts to plan your weekends
✅ You love meeting new people and making them feel welcome and creating community
✅ You’re the kind of person who has a sixth sense in social situations and can tell if someone feels nervous or is being left out, and will proactively take action to ensure they feel supported
✅ You have a growth mindset, love feedback and you’re always keen to upskill, learn and grow!
✅ You’re a born leader who people naturally turn to - your energy is contagious and uplifting.
✅ You’re comfortable engaging with a diverse range of people and can strike a conversation with ANYONE. Awkward silences? Never with you around!!
✅ You bring a level of maturity and confidence that allows you to comfortably connect with and build rapport across generations, including with clients in their 60s and beyond.
✅ You’re safety conscious, some may say you have eyes in the back of your head, so that while you’re chatting to clients you are also keeping an eye out for hazards and other things that are happening on the water
✅ You have a clear driving license, you own a car and you are happy driving our SUP van to/from locations.
✅ You’re comfortable lifting up to 9 boards (weighing approx 10kg each) in and out of the SUP van one by one, for every tour
RED FLAGS!
🚩 You’re more interested in paddling cool places than people. Of course our instructors are super passionate paddlers, but this job is about our community, making women feel safe and connected on the water is our no.1 priority. You may find yourself doing the same location over and over again… so we need you to be happy with this.
🚩 You see this as just a fun way to get paid for your hobby (well, that is a perk... but guiding is a role we want you to take seriously. This is an opportunity to use your skills to ignite the love of SUP in others and empower women!)
🚩 You struggle with time management
🚩 You’re easily distracted or lack attention to detail
🚩 You’re not a morning person… (we love a sunrise & the best conditions are early mornings!)
🚩 You’re not a fan of getting your hands dirty, getting salty or carrying multiple boards even when you’re tired.
🚩 You’re someone who refuses to go outside if it’s raining
🚩 You have never used a hand-pump to inflate a paddleboard
🚩 You don’t understand why some people can’t “just stand-up!” (if you don’t understand why paddleboarding is hard for some people, this isn’t the job for you)
We’d LOVE if… (but ok if not)
⭐️ You own your own paddleboard (not for use during tours, just so you’re able to talk confidently about owning a board and share personal paddling stories)
⭐️ You’ve studied our current tour offering (and been on at least one tour!) so you’re familiar with the waterways we paddle on
⭐️ You’re comfortable in front of the camera and have an interest in making content for us (additional paid work opportunities here)
⭐️ You have other skills such as Yoga, Pilates, Crafting/Painting, Bushcraft skills, personal training or other!
⭐️ You’re a keen storyteller and can bring stories about history, the local area or information about animals/sea life to our half day tours
