Looking for a bit more confidence on SUP? Look no further!

ABOUT THIS LESSON

Our SUP Confidence Lessons are for those who may have tried SUP on holiday, with friends or those who have never paddled before but want to try SUP in a safe, female-only environment, where there is no judgement and no pressure! You don’t even have to stand if you don’t want to, but we’re pretty certain with our hot tips and supportive ‘girl-power’ environment, you’ll be standing in no time!!

We recognise knowledge brings greater confidence, so we have designed this session to combine a mix of easy to remember tips, practical skill drills and knowledge about the boards, water and weather to empower you with a tool kit of all the essential items to become an awesome adventurous paddler.

We will cover:

  • Safety on and off the water

  • Knee-based paddling to standing

  • Turning & stopping techniques

  • The secrets to stability on a SUP (how to avoid shakey legs!!)

  • How to avoid tired toes!

  • Increasing your paddle efficiency (and therefore go further with less effort)

  • Understanding our environment (e.g. weather)

  • Which SUP is right for you?

  • Caring for your SUP

  • and of course, we’ll have a heap of fun in the process!!

Once you’ve joined this class, if you’re looking to practice you should check out our Confidence Builder sessions! These are the perfect next step!

COST

Private 60 mins - $109pp

ABILITY LEVEL

Suitable for all abilities including those who’ve NEVER touched a SUP before and those who have perhaps tried SUP but don’t feel very confident on the water. We keep our class sizes small (max 4-5 people) so that our instructor can work with each individual 1:1 to ensure everyone is supported where they are at, and everyone leaves with new skills, knowledge and a boost in SUP confidence.

WEATHER

The She SUPs team will be in touch with you via SMS if the weather (in particular wind) conditions look unsafe to paddle and we will arrange to reschedule the paddle or provide a refund. Please assume we are proceeding as normal if you don't hear from us, and trust that we will never run a paddle if it's unsafe to do so. Often generalist forecasts like Apple and Google forecasts are not accurate enough for paddling, so your instructor will be analysing more in-depth weather charts to decide whether to proceed.

MEETING POINT

Our group lessons are held at Tunks Park, Middle Harbour, Cammeray.
With Private SUP Confidence Lessons (see here) we can offer 3 other licensed locations in Sydney and therefore will discuss which waterway is best for you based on your location and the forecast conditions. Details about meeting point and what to wear/bring are shared once you have booked in for this adventure!

CAN I BYO BOARD?

For our group sessions we ask that you do not BYO board, however if you’re interested in learning on your own board, we can do this in a 1:1 private lesson.
