Every woman welcome.
WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
Hey, I’m Vikki – British-born adventurer, experience designer, and proud founder of She SUPs.
She SUPs is a stand-up paddleboarding adventure business and community that aims to educate and enable women (cis, trans) and gender minorities through SUP Confidence lessons, community paddles, adventure tours, skills workshops and bucket-list multi-day SUP trips.
My happy place - teaching SUP in one of Sydney’s beautiful inland waterways!
Drawing up some big adventurous dreams…
Believe it or not, I didn’t grow up near the ocean. I was raised in the countryside of Winchester, England - land of rolling fields and limited waterways! But in 2015, I packed up my life and moved to Australia, chasing a bigger, more adventurous way of living.
Not long after landing in Sydney, I discovered paddling. First came kayaking, then SUP, and I was hooked. Being on the water gave me freedom at a time when I was stuck in a toxic corporate job (thanks to my visa!), navigating the loneliness of being far from home, and working through PTSD and anxiety. SUP became my outlet. It gave me strength, skills, and a connection to both the ocean and Country. Honestly? It helped me find myself.
But as I paddled Sydney’s waterways, something stood out: where were all the women?
When I dug deeper, I realised many women wanted to try SUP but didn’t know where to go or who to go with. And so I created She SUPs to solve those two problems.
Taking on waterway number 7 (Pittwater) on my 30 waterways of Sydney in 30 days challenge which launched She SUPs!
We began as a simple meet-up group, then expanded into lessons and tours. Six years later, She SUPs has grown into Australia’s leading female-focused SUP business – a social enterprise that offers safe, supported paddle experiences, lessons, and trips in incredible locations. We’ve built a community where women can explore, grow, and never have to paddle alone (unless they want to!).
I like to think we’ve broken the mould of a traditional mass-market SUP business. She SUPs has carved out it’s own unique corner of the outdoors industry, delivering experiences that are truly soul-warming. I’m so proud that many paddlers describe our community as “feeling like a family” and that the skills and knowledge we share empower women to do it themselves and spend more time outdoors with confidence.
Today, She SUPs has connected hundreds of women across Australia and beyond, creating a movement that’s as much about friendship, empowerment, and wellbeing as it is about paddleboarding.
One of our very first She SUPs Socials in Rose Bay! These now happen every month around Sydney, in new locations each month!
And this is only the beginning. As we grow, my dream is to open up more opportunities for women and girls from all walks of life to experience the joy, confidence, and freedom that SUP brings.
I’d love for you to be part of this journey.
See you on the water,
Vikki x
