Community Social Paddles

Our Community Social paddles are a chance for our community to connect on the water and enjoy a 1-2 hour paddle at a relaxed pace. If you’re looking for a way to make new friends, connect with other paddlers and feel part of something special - these events are for you!

Our Community social paddles happen adhoc throughout the year as a way to bring our community together to catch up, connect and celebrate the incredible women who paddle with us. These catch ups after often created to celebrate key holidays and dates such as Halloween, Christmas, end of season/start of season and therefore are THEMED as we LOVE an excuse to dress-up on our SUPs and have a laugh!!

Introducing, our next THEMED Community Social Paddle of the year…

After a few seasons of epic Christmas parties, we’re adding a bit more ‘sparkle’ to our Christmas Community paddle this year and joining our friends at Narrabeen Dragonboat Club for a special ‘lit up’ paddle across Narrabeen Lake to The Link Christmas Carols. Expect a whole heap of magic and Christmas cheer!

Time: 6.30pm -8.30/9pm
Itinerary:
6-6.30pm - Set up boards
6.30pm Launch
9.00pm Approx finish

WHAT TO WEAR
A festive outfit! As always, we'll be popping on our favourite Santa hats, Christmas Rashies and sparkly tops ready for a Christmassy evening - but the most important thing to consider for your outfit is FAIRY LIGHTS! We want to light up the lake with our paddle, so please decorate yourself (and your paddleboard) with lots of lovely sparkly lights! We will be paddling back in the dark so sparkly lights will lead the way!

We advise that you wear some sort of shoe (like reef shoes, flip flops or Teva sandals) for before and after this paddle. We'll be paddling to The Link Christmas Carols and by the time we get back it will be dark, so it's best to have shoes to put on when getting out of the water!

COST
This is a FREE community event with a She SUPs registration fee of $10.
This $10 will help us buy some Christmassy treats for our paddlers to enjoy.

+ SUP Hire $40 *LIMITED NO. OF BOARDS AVAILABLE*

SAFETY & LIABILITY
Please note, the reason for this being a FREE community event with just a $10 registration fee is because this we’re attempting to keep this as an “unofficial” She SUPs event. We won’t have a strict schedule, we won’t have a large group of instructors guiding the route, (and we won’t be restricting whether you can bring a cheeky beverage or not 🥂 👀… thus the reason for the ‘unofficial-ness’ ) we are simply the facilitators of a group of female paddlers who wish to paddle with fun, like-minded women to The Link Christmas Carols and back (and we will use this $10 to help purchase a few edible goodies for our paddlers to share as we watch the carols).
With this in mind;
1. Please look out for each other (if someone falls off their SUP or seems to be struggling in another capacity, please stop and help them. If you need an instructor's assistance and there is not one close, use the WhatsApp chat to call Vikki)
2. If you break away from the group and want to find someone from She SUPs to paddle with, please use the WhatsApp chat (link in confirmation email).
3. There are no set rules of where you watch the carols from or how long you stay at the carols. You're welcome to stay later or leave early. We will post in the WhatsApp group any movements Vikki is making if you wish to stay with the core group.
4. As this is NOT a 'formal’/ ‘offical' She SUPs event, under She SUPs liability and insurance, this also means you're welcome to bring your own food and drinks - including alcohol (please drink responsibly!) She SUPs insurance does not cover any paddler who consumes alcohol before or during a paddle, so you do so at your own risk.
5. All paddlers attending this event, agree to accept full responsibility for their own paddle experience and safety. She SUPs or it’s instructors are not liable for any accidents, incidents or injuries that occur.

ABILITY LEVEL
Suitable for ALL abilities. We recommend that if you haven’t paddled before, you take a lesson first before this event as our Community Social Paddles have a large number of paddlers and it can be a little daunting if you haven’t paddled before. Also for this themed paddle, our instructors will be purely there for safety not instruction, therefore we simply head out onto the water, go for a float at a slow pace, have a good chat, laugh at our amazing costumes, and as always, there’s no pressure to stand! Click here to find out more about our lessons if you need one before this event.

WHAT HAPPENS IF IT’S BAD WEATHER?
We will reach out to you via email if we have to reschedule due to bad weather. Please trust that your instructors are watching detailed weather forecasts and will never put you in an unsafe or unenjoyable situation.
