Snowy Mountains SUP Adventure, Jindabyne

📍on Ngarigo and Walgal country
We pay our respects and show gratitude to the
Ngarigo and the Walgal people who are the Traditional Custodians of the land we meet and paddle on.

A weekend of mountains views, lake swims and SUP. Sounds like pure bliss, right? If you agree, the She SUPs Snowy Mountains SUP Adventure is for you.

Come experience the magic of being surrounded by mountains as you paddle for three days on the glistening waters of Lake Jindabyne.

ABILITY LEVEL

This trip is designed for paddlers who feel comfortable with their standing ability. Lake Jindabyne is an alpine lake and therefore we want to minimise risk of falling as much as possible. We recommend that paddlers who attend should be comfortable standing for 1-1.5 hours before attending this trip. You’re of course welcome to kneel or sit at any time.

REVIEW

“I attended the SheSUPs trip to Jindabyne . I'm relatively new to SUP and it was great to get away to a beautiful location with fellow SUP enthusiasts, The trip was the perfect balance of exercise, nature, great food and great company.”

Sample itinerary

Friday:

  • Our small group of 8 paddlers will meet at around 2-3pm at our lake-side accomodation in Jindabyne, allowing plenty of time on the Friday for those driving to Jindabyne.

  • You’ll be shown to your rooms, and invited to join the group for some introductions over a complimentary cheese board on arrival overlooking the water.

  • Once all settled, we’ll take this time to stretch out after your travels, ground yourself in the moment, and set your intentions for the days ahead with a local yoga teacher.

  • Depending on how tired the group feels, there is the opportunity for a Sunset SUP paddle before dinner (optional).

  • Coming back to our lodge, a warm and hearty meal will be provided by an incredible local chef.

Saturday:

  • It will be an early start for breakfast (provided), as we fuel up ahead of our big day ahead!

  • It’s time to hit the water!! Today’s goal will be to explore as much of the lake as we can (and the weather allows!) We’ll pack our SUPs, pack a picnic lunch (provided) and set off for 3-4 hour paddle around the lake stopping for our lunch on route.

  • Depending on the day, if we have calm conditions all day, we’ll stay lakeside exploring as far as we can. But if we’ve had enough paddling, we’ll head inland and take a scenic chairlift right up Mt Kosciuszko and enjoy breathing in the fresh mountain air.

  • Finally, after a full day of adventuring, we’ll return to our beautiful lake-side lodge, for another warm and nutritious meal made by a local chef and an evening of sharing stories from the adventures we have just shared.

Sunday:

  • Sunday morning we will wake up and have a hearty breakfast at our accomodation. For those who feel like it, there will be an option of a cold water therapy dip in the lake before breakfast!

  • We’ll then set off on a 1-2 hour Paddle Adventure, this time, on the opposite side of the lake for a slightly different view and experience.

  • Our final activity will take us to a local cafe or brewery for lunch, before we say goodbye to new friends, and head home.

**this is a sample itinerary, each weekend will vary just a little depending on the weather conditions.

REVIEW:

“My second trip with She SUPs and it did not disappoint... Vikki was again an excellent guide and host - blending a friendly, relaxed demeanour with impressive organisation skills. The location in Jindabyne was stunning, the lake being a beautiful still expanse of water to paddle on, surrounded by mountain views. Our accommodation was close to the water and there were generously-proportioned healthy vegetarian meals every day. Nearly everyone on the trip came solo but we left with each other's contact details and plans to SUP (or just lunch!) again in the near future. I am already booked onto another two trips!”

Where we are staying

We will be staying in two quaint snow-cabin-style properties facing directly onto Lake Jindabyne for these trips.

Trip 1: Centrally located, our lakefront house is an easy 5 min walk to Jindabyne Town Centre, and directly looks onto the lake so we can easily check the conditions or pop down for a cold water therapy swim each morning. The property has its own private indoor sauna for guests to unwind in after a big day and a fireplace to relax by in the living room. All rooms are twin share single beds. Due to the limited group accomodation in the area, private rooms are not available for this trip however we plan to spend as much of our time outside exploring as possible not in our rooms.

Trip 2 (new date): Our wonderful lakeside accomodation (pictured below) is located in the quiet suburbs of East Jindabyne. This is one of our favourite spots in the area due to the easy lake access, quiet leafy environment and beautiful swimming bays. This accomodation doesn’t have a sauna like trip 1, but it does have a stunning wrap-around verandah perfect for viewing the sunset over the lake with a glass of wine, and private rooms are available for this trip. Room preferences will be allocated on a first come, first served basis at time of booking.

WHAT IF I DON’T KNOW ANYONE?

All good! 95% of our paddlers are travelling solo and therefore most people don’t know each other before the trip, but everyone leaves with new friends!

REVIEW

“You’ll get to meet a group of awesome women of all ages and backgrounds, everyone is there expecting to meet people they don’t know and open to making friends. You’ll also do some amazing paddles that you probably wouldn’t be able to do by yourself (unless you’re supremely experienced) in a fun and supportive environment. If this sounds like fun to you then sign up - you won’t regret it.”
